BUILDINGS & ASSETS
The buildings and structures of Midwinter island serve as vital resources for survival and resistance. Each location plays a crucial role in the struggle against General Masters' forces.
STRATEGIC TARGETS
HEAT MINE
The means by which all power is generated on the island. The enemy's primary targets - once all Heat Mines are captured or destroyed, your people will be forced to surrender.
ENEMY HQ
Located at Shining Hollow and guarded like a fortress. Your goal is to destroy it, eliminating General Masters. Getting there will prove dangerous and difficult. But worth it.
RADIO STATION
Strategically vital - often the only means of communication with remote settlements. Professor Kristiansen can override enemy jamming signals here to recruit up to four Peace Force members.
MILITARY & DEFENSE
BUNKER
Provides sniping positions with a greater margin of safety than open country. The enemy are still likely to fire at you, but bunkers afford protection. Can also shelter overnight.
MAGAZINE
Military ammunition storage. Re-arm your snow-buggy here and get fresh supplies of bullets, grenades and dynamite. Five minutes will be added to your personal time.
POLICE STATION
If Peace Officers are caught on duty, they'll be imprisoned here. Rescue prisoners by blowing up the station with dynamite to liberate its occupants. Meals available.
RESOURCES & SERVICES
GARAGE
Find snow-buggies here - may be fully operational or need repair (up to 4.5 hours). Refuel and re-arm your buggy. Garages are few and far between, so plan your route carefully.
STORE
Get fresh supplies of bullets, grenades and dynamite. Note that Stores only have limited stocks of dynamite. You can carry more dynamite if you have a snow-buggy. Meals available.
WAREHOUSE
Storage facility found throughout the island's settlements. Part of the infrastructure supporting the scattered communities of Midwinter.
FACTORY
Industrial facilities containing machinery and generators. The early factories were key to harnessing geothermal power and constructing transport, buildings and arms.
SYNTHESIS PLANT
Produces fuel for the island's vehicles and heating systems. A vital part of the infrastructure that keeps Midwinter's communities operational.
SHELTER & REST
HOUSE
Residential shelter where you can eat meals to replenish energy and sleep to restore alertness. You can eat as much as you like, but there's little point once energy is at maximum.
MOUNTAIN HUT
Remote shelters found in the highlands. Eat meals to replenish energy and sleep to restore alertness. Essential waypoints when traversing the mountain terrain.
CHURCH
An individual's first visit raises morale. You can snipe from the church steeples, which gives an excellent view of the surrounding landscape. Usually found in settlements.
TRANSPORT
CABLE CAR STATION
Found in pairs - a bottom station and top station connected by pylons. At the top station you'll always find a hang-glider. Some of the most stunning views can be seen whilst travelling by cable car.
OTHER
RUIN
Buildings destroyed by sabotage become ruins. You can still enter them, though they no longer provide their original functions. A testament to the destruction of war.
